What do you want to know?
How do I get from here to passing my test?
The test is in two parts, firstly you need to pass your
theory test. There is a waiting time which constantly
varies, it can be usually 3 to 5 weeks but short notice
cancellations are sometimes available. Then, once you've
passed, depending at what stage you are at with your
driving it is possible to apply for your practical driving
test, which again has a waiting time of usually between
3 to 6 weeks. Your instructor will take this waiting
time into account when telling you when he thinks you
are ready to book your test.
How many lessons will it take to pass my test?
The answer is! It varies from pupil to pupil. The average
number of hours, to reach test standard, at present
is 45 if you are getting some private practice as well.
Some driving schools or instructors will tell you differently,
even before they see you drive, its an incentive for
you to take lessons with them. That figure of 45 hours
is taken from the official DSA website at www.dsa.gov.uk,
your driving instructor will get a good idea about your
driving after a few lessons and will be able to give
you an estimate, regarding how many lessons you may
need. But remember, this is an estimate.
